Lately I have been asked a question that I would like to answer to anyone interested.

It is: “Hey Mike, Why don’t you list with one of those Web Based Travel Booking sites?”

Well, I have. Actually, I had listings at 2 of the top booking sites.
They both did a fine job, and offer a very nice, fair service. Overall, I have no complaints about them what-so ever.

But, they just were not me.

I got more bookings, a lot more in fact, but I found that I was spending more time and effort to get bookings, than I was spending with the guests that I had.

And I was just not comfortable with that situation.

There was one time when I had to excuse myself from a guest, in order to respond to an email, inquiring about an open date.
Right then, I knew things were upside down, and I decided to go back to way I have done it now for almost 20 years.

So, this site may not have all the niceties those sites offer, like instant booking,
but that’s ok, we would communicate in one way or another before your stay, anyway, so there is not too much difference.

I think I have PayPal mastered enough to allow credit card prepayments, and if there are still a few kinks in that system, well, we’ll work them out.

One of the nice parts of those booking sites, is that you can read reviews by other guests.
I have updated my comment section to try to accomplish the same thing, and to ease any concerns or questions.

You may notice that there are no negative comments. That is because no one has left any.
Nobody or place is perfect, but I guess there was nothing major enough for anyone to comment on.

So, I am going to continue to do things the old fashioned, person to person, way.

I think that is the best for everyone involved.
